Bifold door thresholds

Bifold door thresholds should provide a smooth entry from outside to inside. In extreme weather conditions, it is possible that wind and sometimes rain can penetrate the low threshold. The solution is to fit the appropriate threshold in the location. If the location of the bifolding doors is exposed then you should use a rebated weather tested. With correct planning and building work, it is possible to install these rebated thresholds so that they appear flush. The difference in height between the inside and outside can be as small as 20mm or ¾ inch in old money.

Proper planning of the internal finished floor and the exterior patio finished height will allow you to pick the right frame and build the supporting brickwork so the step between inside and outside is as smooth as possible.

This and any of the above threshold can be installed onto a 150mm cill as shown in the drawing. We are finding many of our clients today require the flush feel between inside and outside and are installing this threshold bringing the decking or outside tiling to close under the door when opened.
